Treeathlon is a cross-border initiative aimed at promoting sustainable urban solutions and reducing transport-related pollution in Biharia (Romania) and Derecske (Hungary) — through a bicycle rental system (Bike4Rent), tree planting and awareness-raising programmes.
The project is built around three lines of action:
- Trees4NextGens – tree planting, with 500 saplings in each locality
- Bikes4Rent – development of a bicycle rental system
- Knowledge transfer and awareness-raising – seminars and school activities
