Project Description – Treeathlon (ROHU00467)

Objectives

Increasing urban resilience and creating a more livable environment in Biharia and Derecske.
Îmbunătățirea serviciilor ecosistemice (spații verzi, biodiversitate) și reducerea poluării generate de trafic.
Involving local stakeholders, authorities, and citizens, especially young people, through awareness-raising and community participation actions.

Main activities

Organizing stakeholder meetings and developing a joint Action Plan.

Implementation of concrete actions:

Trees4NextGens: planting trees and mapping them on an interactive map.
Bikes4Rent: creating a municipal bike rental system.
Developing bicycle infrastructure in both localities.

Main activities

Organizing seminars for professionals.
Educational and awareness-raising activities: online campaigns, ‘Treeathlon Days’, interactive school programs.
Creating an online platform with an interactive map and a bike reservation system.

Expected results

Improvement of ecosystem services and biodiversity.
Reduction of air pollution and traffic impact.
Increasing the environmental awareness of the population, especially young people.
A joint action plan and cross-border cooperation between the two communities.

Statement regarding funding from the Interreg fund and the project budget

Project funded through Interreg VI-A Romania–Hungary.

Total budget: EUR 1,867,077.84.

ERDF contribution: EUR 1,493,662.26 (80%).

National/public contribution: EUR 373,415.58.

Implementation period

Project duration: 30 months.
